This project was a 1200 sqft. basement renovation in a glade front home in Rehoboth. The new living space included an office, a large family room, wine closet, bathroom, and bedroom.

The project provided several challenges including limited ceiling height and intrusive duct work from the existing home. It also required new duct work to be installed to allow for proper conditioning of the lower level living space.

Due to an error by the architect during original construction regarding flood plain requirements, the home had to be lowered two and a half feet which reduced the basement ceiling height to seven feet. In addition, duct work for the existing home was not run along the ceiling but along the floors and walls of what was to become new living space.

To provide an aesthetically pleasing interior NewSpace, Inc. designed large boxed window seats for all windows and created a built-in bench seat in the office. The result allowed the duct work to be hidden inside a bold design. The box seat windows married with warm paint colors created more light which greatly minimized the effects of the low ceiling.

This client is one of NewSpace, Inc's best references and has stated that she wishes NewSpace, Inc. had built her entire house.
